Thank you for purchasing a River Raider snorkel system.  Our goal is to provide a quality product that makes your jeep more capable, and your off-road experience more enjoyable.

1.      Remove the factory air box from your jeep.

2.      Take the supplied template marked “air box template” and cut along the lines.  Next, tape it to the air box. This will show where to cut the air box.

3.      Now remove the plastic area inside the template to allow room for the new intake bracket to be fitted onto the air box.  A small amount of trimming with a utility knife may need to be done on the outside of the air box to allow the intake bracket to fit tightly against it.

4.      Now test fit the new intake bracket.  Once the bracket fits, drill the mounting holes in the air box.

5.      We recommend using a healthy bead of 100% silicone caulk between the intake bracket and the air box.  Then attach the bracket to the box with the enclosed stainless hardware.

6.      Next remove the stock intake horn from the air box and install the block off plate on the front of the air box to close off the factory intake location.

7.      Now drill the mounting holes for the block off plate into the air box.

8.      Then attach the block off plate with silicone and hardware.

9.      Now install the provided rubber intake hose onto the new air box intake with the provided stainless hose clamp.

10.  Lower the open end of the intake hose down between the battery and the distributor and reinstall the air box.

11.  Take the provided template marked “TJ SNORKEL TEMPLATE” and tape it to the hood with the edges of the template flush with the edges of the hood.

12.  Cut out the hood area that is marked by the template.  Be sure to paint any bare metal to prevent rust from forming.

13.  Remove the battery from the jeep.  Then remove the entire battery tray assembly by removing the 8 factory fasteners that attach the battery tray assembly to the fire wall and the inner fender well.

Now install the lower air module brace by attaching the factory air module to the brace with the enclosed hardware.  Then install the brace into the jeep by using the lower factory mounting hardware from the original factory battery tray.  Now install the new battery tray utilizing the original upper battery tray mounting bolts.  Now reinstall the battery in its new location.  Test fit the snorkel on the jeep by attaching the snorkel to the windshield frame with the enclosed hardware.  Mark the 2 small mounting holes on the fender through the TJ snorkel.  Remove the snorkel from the jeep, drill two 5/16” holes on the marked spots.  Reinstall the snorkel with the enclosed hardware.  Attach rubber ducting from the air box to the snorkel.  Fasten with enclosed hose clamps.

14.  You will notice the factory antenna will interfere with the placement of your new snorkel.  Remove the antenna mast and the plastic mounting shield.  With the shield removed, you will see three mounting screws that hold the base antenna mount in place.  Remove these three screws and rotate the base counter-clockwise, allowing the antenna mast to follow along the windshield frame.  Drill three new holes in the body of the jeep and notch to allow the antenna to be attached and reinstall screws.

Congratulations on successfully installing your new River Raider snorkel!  Remember, the installation of this snorkel does not turn your jeep into a submarine.  High water crossings are dangerous and can cause damage to other mechanical and electrical components of your jeep unless necessary precautions have been taken.  It is the installers’ responsibility to ensure that this intake system is installed and sealed to function properly.
